The First Meeting of the Superconducting Center Expert Committee Successfully Held

On the afternoon of December 22, 2022, the first meeting of the Expert Committee of the Superconducting Center was successfully held in the form of remote video. More than 20 experts and professors, including Academician Wang Qiuliang of the Institute of Electrical Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician Chen Xianhui of the University of Science and Technology of China, Academician Zhou Youhe of Lanzhou University, and Academician Wu Jianqi of the 38th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Corporation, were invited to attend the meeting. The director of the Superconducting Center, Lu Kun, presented a progress report on behalf of the center, and the executive director, Liu Huajun, presided over the meeting.

President Lu Kun expressed gratitude to the expert committee members who attended the meeting and provided detailed reports to them from various aspects such as the business scope, development route, industrial layout, and scientific research progress of the Superconducting Center. He stated that the Superconducting Center will make full use of its own scientific research resources and talent advantages, allowing multiple superconducting sites to blossom and effectively collaborate, and jointly create an internationally leading superconducting industry cluster.

At the meeting, the expert committee members exchanged ideas and provided guidance on the work of the Superconducting Center. Academician Wang Qiuliang pointed out that in recent years, the country's investment in superconducting technology, applications, and research has been relatively weak, and the research conditions for the younger generation are relatively limited. It is recommended that the center approach superconducting technology from a multidisciplinary perspective, such as large scientific installations, energy, national defense, and life sciences, in order to enhance the application space of national superconducting technology. Professor Dai Shaotao pointed out that the superconducting center should integrate domestic advantageous resources, lead domestic superconducting technology, form a large platform centered on superconductivity, and play a radiating role from point to area, allowing domestic superconducting technology to bloom everywhere. He stated that under the leadership of various expert committee members, the advisory committee and technical committee will play their maximum role. Researchers Li Laifeng and Professor Wang Yinshun have provided valuable opinions and suggestions on the future development direction, positioning, and talent introduction of the Superconducting Center.
